Breaking into the scene fresh with his poignant electronic sound is 22-year-old Antwerp based producer Taska Black. His dreamy style utilizes an organic warmth in cohesion with raw heart-pumping melodies. By meshing his background in classical music with pulsating modern day bass music styles, Taska Black has pushed the boundaries of modern day music by continuously challenging the formulaic trends of electronic music today.

His unique approach and ear for melodies caught the ear of bitbird founder and tastemaker San Holo in early 2016 who featured Taska’s single “Leave Me” on the label’s debut compilation Gouldian Finch. The record exploded to the tune of millions of streams and was heavily featured across the festival circuit with some of the biggest names in EDM playing the record.

That success led to the opportunity for mentor San Holo to tap the budding producer for two official remixes for his own work on “Light” and “The Future” respectively before releasing two more powerful singles on bitbird in “Where We Go” and “Dreaming” firmly capturing the eyes and ears of tastemakers across the dance music space and establishing himself as the next big thing on one of the most curated labels in electronic music today. He wrapped up 2017 in style too making his label debut on indie tastemaker Lowly Palace with “Nothing Lasts.”

2018 sees Taska picking up right where he left off with a string of successful singles and broadening his horizons with successful label debuts on Monstercat and Seeking Blue with “We Would Never Do” and “In Your Eyes” respectively. With both singles he also showcased his skill as a multi-instrumentalist with live session ‘b-sides’ to them both separating himself from the pack with his classical training. He also had the time to release a debut music video for the frantic and manic production “Dead Inside.”

As Taska Black’s reputation has grown, so has the demand for his performances. San Holo enlisted his support across an intimate run of European shows at the start of 2018 while North America awaits with a massive debut at Bonnaroo in store alongside bitbird labelmates DROELOE which kick-starts a run of curated festivals worldwide before a massive run across North America with familiar friend San Holo in the fall.

Known for their melodic bass-driven tracks like ‘Never Change’ and ‘Fluorescent Lights,’ Crystal Skies is an American EDM duo who’ve developed a unique dubstep sound that resonates emotionally with listeners. Louisiana-native Britian Holcomb and Aaron Dawson of Philadelphia began producing dubstep music on their own, citing household melodic names like Seven Lions, Au5, and KOAN Sound as both inspiration and having a heavy influence on their respective styles.

After testing solo careers, the pair, long admirers of each other, decided to work together. A few exchanges later, it was obvious there was magic between the two. And ‘Paradise Lost,’ their first collaboration, was born. Known for its stunning piano introduction, soothing melodies, and impressive vocals by Abigail, ‘Paradise Lost’ became an immediate success within the Soundcloud community. The two quickly realized the chemistry they had working together, and founded Crystal Skies. Since their formation, they’ve amassed over 3 million plays on Soundcloud, 14.7 million plays on Spotify, and 17.0 million views on Youtube.

On top of raw talent, these guys possess an unrelenting work ethic and desire to create new music, which culminated in the release of ‘Never Change’ in 2019 on the Ophelia label. ‘Never Change’ is a versatile track that stays true to Crystal Skies’ melodic dubstep identity while adding touches of darker, electro-bass on the B-sides track with ‘Carbon.’

The pair have followed up this track with a collaboration with Au5, and one with Seven Lions, titled ‘Cataclysm’ and ‘Sojourn,’ respectively. Crystal Skies is simply two guys with real talent who want to create music that people will enjoy, and it shows in each track they produce. Expect to hear a lot more from them over the coming months and years.
